Ambivalence, an English student’s favourite place to be:

Where words are never what they seem,
And black and white are just the beginning.
Where two roads going in opposite directions lead you to the same destination.
Where yes and no mean the same thing.
Where cynics, pessimists, and optimists have become extinct.
Where people speak Contradiction.
Where analysis is an infinite natural resource.
Where the most deep, philosophical question is ‘heads or tails?’
Where the mascot is Auguste’s Thinker.
Where spirals and ying yangs are the most recurring themes in art.
Where brothers Dichotomy and Dualism have a 24 hour bar,
And the Opposite twins keep checking you out.
Where ambiguity is a turn on.
Where the phrase ‘a penny for your thoughts’ has become common among prostitutes,
And thoughts don’t grow on trees.
Where Authenticity, Individuality, and Homogenity never agree on anything.

Ambivalence, an English student’s favourite place to be.

I was looking everywhere for this thing! I thought I'd lost. I wrote it during 1st year of University when I was swamped with essays and readings.

Totally wicked poem. I think you have to be an english major to get it though. It puts me in mind of all the English teachers I've had who leave everything open to interpretation, without ever giving their own.

Ya, but that's sorta the fun of being an English student, it's up to you to analyse. I'd much rather do that than regurgitate (is that how you spell that?) what the prof tells me. There's almost no point in going to class in that case.
